The Economics of Biophilic Design
Program Description
This program will examine the economic argument in favor of biophilic design using case studies from five sectors; workplaces, health care, education, retail and communities. Research from neuroscience and endocrinology show the crucial role that experiencing nature has for our physiological well-being. We will describe the research involving biophilic design and its impact on human health and productivity.

Mike Senneff
Mike Senneff is the Founder + CEO of Natura, a Texas based horticultural services company. Since 1983, Natura has been recognized by industry publications as one of the top 10 interior landscape companies in the USA. The company employs over 100 full-time associates providing horticultural services to over 2500 commercial clients throughout major markets in Texas.
Originally from Southern California, Mike began his horticulture career in 1976 at Ranch Verde Greenhouses in Carlsbad California. In 1981, Mike obtained a degree in Ornamental Horticulture from the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. He moved to Texas to become the head grower for Lone Star Nurseries, and later founded Natura in 1983. His educational background and industry experience allow Natura to effectively engage in interiorscape, patioscape, living wall and green roof design, installation, and maintenance with proven expertise.
Mike is currently responsible for the strategic, financial, and operational leadership at Natura. Mike has served on the Board of Directors for the Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA) and now serves as President of Green Plants for Green Buildings (GPGB), an industry association with the purpose of communicating the aesthetic, wellbeing, and economic benefits of nature in the built environment to architects, designers, and influencers throughout the country.
Mike Senneff lives in San Antonio, Texas with his wife Kim. He has four grown-up children and blessed with twelve grandchildren.
