Mary V. L. Wright, Manager, Apprenticeship Program at the SHRM Foundation, is responsible for implementing the US DOL funded HR Registered Apprenticeship Program, the first national HR apprenticeship program. As such, she is responsible for all parts of the program – development, marketing, sales, budget and evaluation.
Ms. Wright has many years of experience connecting the public and private sectors in municipal finance, government affairs, and workforce development as a project leader, facilitator and subject matter expert.
She is also a Non-Resident Senior Policy Fellow for Workforce Development at the Institute for Work & the Economy. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Institute and chairs the Institute’s Achieving the Promise of Work initiative.

Your organization recently received an EEOC charge. How do you begin to navigate through it all? Join seasoned EEOC staff as they explain the entire process from charge filing to closure.

Katherine S. Perez began her career with the EEOC over 27 years ago. Prior to assuming her current position as the Dallas District Office’s ADR Coordinator, she served as an Investigator, Mediator and ADR Coordinator for the former San Antonio District Office. In her present role, she oversees the EEOC’s mediation programs in the Dallas District Office, the San Antonio Field Office and the El Paso Area Office, which mediate employment discrimination cases throughout Northern, Western and Southern Texas, as well as, Southern New Mexico. Ms. Perez also presents on a myriad of topics relating to employment discrimination and mediation for various universities and organizations.
Ernesto Escobedo has 28 years of federal government service, primarily at the US Air Force and US EEOC, where he has worked as an Investigator, Supervisor, and Mediator. He is certified SPHR and SHRM-SCP. Ernesto teaches HR classes and SHRM CP & SCP prep-classes at a private university. He is also a Pro Bono Arbitrator at the San Antonio & Austin Better Business Bureau. Ernesto serves on the SAHRMA Executive Board & Treasurer. He was the previous Workforce Director.
Manuel Medina began his career with the EEOC in 2014. Prior to assuming his current position as the El Paso Area Office’s Mediator, he served as an Investigator for the San Antonio Field Office. In his present role, he mediates employment discrimination cases throughout Northern, Western and Southern Texas, as well as, Southern New Mexico. Mr. Medina also presents on Equal Opportunity topics for the U.S. Army Reserves as he serves as his unit’s Equal Opportunity Leader.
Norma Guzman holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from St. Mary’s University, and was hired by U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in 1990 as an Investigator under the Outstanding Scholar Program. Mr. Guzman has been with the Commission for the past 30 years investigating individual and class/systemic employment discrimination cases and has served as supervisor and manager for the past eight years. Ms. Guzman currently serves as Enforcement Manager leading two teams of investigators in the enforcement of federal laws that prohibit employment discrimination.
George Hamilton earned a Master’s Degree from Northern Montana College. He retired from the Air Force with a background in nuclear operations, command and control, and contingency/war time planning. George took a year off work after retirement then started his second career conducting federal background investigations for a year. He joined the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to work with combat veterans and their families experiencing adjustment challenges due to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). After the VA, George joined the EEOC in 2010 as an Investigator. When not working, George enjoys coaching youth sports and spending time with his family.
