Program Description
Presenting a diverse set of perspectives of what challenges are often faced in the workplace; and what supportive actions and behaviors facilitate success for individuals of all backgrounds, unique design, and individual experiences. Best practices and lessons learned will be presented as to what facilitates personal achievement.
Speaker
Commissioner Tommy Calvert was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and has traveled and lived throughout the world. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Tufts University in 2002.
Commissioner Calvert was elected the Bexar County Precinct 4 Commissioner in 2015 and is one of five chief executives of county government. He is the youngest and first African-American County Commissioner in Bexar County. In 2018, Commissioner Calvert ran unopposed and started his second term in January 2019.
He represents over 500,000 residents in Precinct 4 of the 1.8 million who call Bexar County home. Precinct 4 stretches from Cibolo in the northeast, south to Elmendorf, downtown to IH-10 and Hildebrand, and the entire eastern portion of the county.
Commissioner Calvert has distinguished himself by building and developing areas in the county that have historically been neglected; ushering a rebirth for Precinct 4 residents.

Phil Bohlender is an experienced and enthusiastic Global Organizational Development Leader with expertise in business transformation consulting, leadership development coaching and organizational culture change. Phil’s corporate career spanned more than 35 years, working for 7 companies in 2 industries on 5 continents. While in his numerous leadership roles, Phil led more than 12 organizational turnarounds. His OD expertise impacted successful turnarounds for teams, divisions, departments, and companies. Phil will address the impact of coming out in and on a professional career.
Lorraine Willias, Registered Nurse and Autism Advocate. She is currently pursuing a Master's of Social Work degree from Our Lady of the Lake University with the goal of helping people who have Autism. She also volunteers at Autism Community Network, assisting with assessments and providing education. Lorraine will be speaking to her experience and research on Autism in the workplace.
Serafina De Los Santos is the Executive Director of the 502d Force Support Group (FSG), Joint Base San Antonio, Texas, which includes JBSA-Lackland, JBSA Fort Sam Houston and JBSA-Camp Bullis. The 3,000-person 502d FSG executes Force Support functions that bolster more than 266 mission partners, more than 80,000 full-time personnel and a local community of more than 250,000 retirees. Ms. De Los Santos oversees JBSA’s Community Partnerships for Workforce and Transition.
She will be expertly speaking to the transition from military culture into private sector culture; and how to smooth out the transition for all parties.
