2019 Learning Event Immigration Economic Realities and Workplace Opportunities

The Learning Event is a SHRM@A&M-SA project in partnership with the College of Business, and the San Antonio Human Resource Management Association (SAHRMA). The event is FREE and will be live, streamed, and recorded. 2.0 HRCI re-certification credits and SHRM Professional Development Credits are pending approval. Our panelists will include: 

  • Rogelio Saenz PhD,  College of  Public Policy, UTSA discussing the scholar perspective on the role of immigration to the American story.
  • Caroline Tang JD, Immigration Attorney, Ogletree Deakins discussing the immigration legal landscape and implications for employers. 
  • Rebecca Peters JD, SHRM Director, Policy Engagement discussing the Society for Human Resource Management position on immigration to the U.S. Congress, White House and federal agencies. 
  • Lisa Marie Gomez, San Antonio Chamber of Commerce discussing the role of immigration and its implications to business in Texas. 


A pre-event mixer, 5 to 6 pm, will feature food and beverage for students, staff, faculty and guests. We encourage you to bring your HR staff and join the conversation.
